Life represents one analogy after another. At least that's the way God speaks life through me. In resolving conflict, offering encouragement or expressing praise, there's always a simple, yet pictorial way He conveys His heart to me. Recently, at a shaky point in my writings, He shared with me a "cake" analogy and I was compelled to share the "recipe" with my readers.
I was feeling the weight of discouragement and stress over issues of marital miscommunication, parental angst and fears of limited creativity. God's analogy -- place those issues in His hands as ingredients in the hands of a master chef. He would be faithful to complete the good work He had begun in my marriage, my ability to parent and in my writings. I just had to relinquish control of my agenda. God has since masterfully poured into my heart wisdom, patience, understanding and love without conditions. My beloved husband and I attended a life-changing marriage encounter weekend with New Life Ministries. We revisited counseling sessions with a play therapist for our son to learn to effectively navigate the pre-teen years.
As far as my writing was concerned, I found myself in this hiatus tasting and seeing the goodness of God. The enemy tried to deflate my rising aspirations all while God was acknowledging His presence in my literary development. I sensed from the master chef that I may have been struggling with writer's block in bringing closure to my manifesto, but it was only one article and it will be completed in His time, not mine. I was starting to believe my moving forward as a writer was hinged on completing this thing. God informed me in His most benevolent manner -- "DAUGHTER, THAT'S A LIE!" And with that, I felt a release to write again.
In boldness, God calls us all to walk in His truth and to step into His purpose (2 Cor. 5:5). I am called to write. I know that full well now that my "cake" is done. What is He calling you to do? I trust that if you relinquish control to the master chef, He will create a culinary masterpiece in you!
Expect a post in a few day (and no, it won't be the manifesto, but that will come in due time). And if my writings can bless you or someone you know, then in the glorious words of Marie Antoinette -- "Let them eat cake!"
