Sprawled on the front page of Tuesday
morning’s newspaper read the headline…
SEND YOUR PRAYERS THIS WAY
Below the plea was an Associated
Press photo of a fatigued woman carrying a child away from the leveled
wreckage of Plaza Towers Elementary School. It mattered not the biological bond between
the two. As this faceless child griped
this woman’s arms, the world became her mother and the comfort of those arms
became ours to bear.
SEND YOUR PRAYERS THIS WAY
When disaster strikes, we console strangers. We encourage the disillusioned. We accommodate the disenfranchised. We rally in prayer. We set aside our rhetoric for His response. And today the town of Moore, Oklahoma cries out…
SEND YOUR PRAYERS THIS WAY
In wisdom, let us pray.
In faith, let us trust God’s ultimate plan -- not the world’s poisoned opinions
or religions’ punitive position. God is
God…PERIOD. No greater sermon will be
remembered than the one which addresses the need. And right now, Oklahoma and the world needs
to know a real Savior during these real times from real folks.
SEND YOUR PRAYERS THIS WAY
A Prayer for Moore,
Oklahoma:
Savior, hear the cries of this
hurting city. Connect their real needs
to real answers that only You can address.
Use us as vessels of noble purpose to carry out Your Kingdom’s call during this devastating time.
Anoint the
medical staff. Give them rest in their
weariness and steady nerves to tackle the tough issues.
Anoint the emergency rescue staff. Give them strength to persevere during this
crisis and hope to trust in a power beyond themselves.
Anoint the ecumenical community. Unite their witness across religious divides
and pour into their hearts a laborer’s spirit as the harvest field lay leveled
by this tornado.
And as the foundation
is set, I pray for the people impacted in Moore, Oklahoma. To face barrenness where race, creed, color,
status or prestige means nothing in the path of a tornado, I pray You comfort
all in all. Where only man, woman and
child remain and labels are stripped away, I pray You safely direct all in all.
Each one needs You. Hear each cry oh Lord and attend unto each
and every prayer like only You can do.
In this, I pray. Amen.
