Okay, time to debunk a myth - we do not know everything. Maybe Bo knows (from 80's sports fame). Maybe our friends know. Maybe even our moms know (that's the impression we got growing up). Nope, hate to spring it on ya, but we do not know everything. Finite thinking clashes with infinite purpose. Narrow focus stifles the big picture. Human perspective gets in the way of Godly insight. It's how we're wired, I guess. It's hard being in the know when we don't know how to be.
For example, I have a tendency to play things by ear when I don't know what to do or say. I've gotten better at saying "I'll get back to ya on that one" when I don't know the answer. But for the most part, my humanness slips into a false pride when I'm called on to be an authority on a particular matter. And if I'm honest with myself, it's hard swallowing my pride when I have to apologize for not being the "great and all-knowing, powerful Oz!" (just kidding).
But what a mighty God we serve! He knows everything. For the One who created the heavens and the earth, He knows the stars by name. He knows our hurts and hangups. He knows our quirks and habits. He knows our shape and form. He knows what to say and when to say it. He knows the meanings of grace, mercy, wisdom and understanding and doles them out without discretion to those who seek Him. He knows how to enact justice, extol praise and extend comfort. Quite simply, God is the ultimate know-it-all! He instructs us through His Word to know the matters of the heart and the purposes of His kingdom. And we can know God works for our good (Romans 8:28) because He said so.
So maybe our moms did know a thing or two and well, maybe Bo did know something, but if we want to trust the One that knows it all, trust God. He knows everything because He knows you!
